Apple Crumble is a deliciously satisfying dessert that doesn’t require much effort. This recipe is not only super tasty but it also has fewer calories.
Ingredients for 4-6 serves:
3 granny smith apples, peeled and sliced thinly
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 – 3 cloves
3 tbs water
4 tbs brown or raw sugar
2 tbs butter
2 tbs whole wheat flour flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
2-3 tbs mixed nuts and seeds
2 tbs shredded coconut
1.) Place the sliced and peeled (you can leave the skin on if you prefer) apples into a saucepan on medium heat along with the water, cinnamon, cloves. nutmeg and 1 tbs of the sugar. Cook until the apples are soft but not mushy.
2.) In a bowl add the butter and flour and rub together using your fingertips until the mix resembles crumbs.
3.) Add the oats, coconut, remaining sugar and nuts. Mix together. (Feel free to add more spices or even dried fruit if you wish).
4.) Place the cooked apples (remove the cloves) into a baking dish and cover with the crumble mix. Place in a medium oven for about 15 minutes or until the crumble is golden.
5.) Serve with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of greek yogurt.
