These delicious baked donuts are slightly guilt-free and are sweet and moist. They have a cakey texture and are perfect for an afternoon treat or even dipped in chocolate for a decadent dessert!

1 1/2 cup Plain Flour

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

5 tbs butter

1/2 cup of light brown sugar

2tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon ground

To coat the donuts:

1/3 cup of caster sugar

2 tsp cinnamon, extra

1/3 cup of melted butter

1.) Beat together the 5 tablespoons of butter and the light brown sugar on medium till well combined.

2.) Add the milk, egg, nutmeg, cinnamon on a low speed. The mixture may look a bit curdled. Add the baking powder and the flour and mix to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.

3.) Coat the dough and your hands in a bit of flour and shape the donuts into even sized balls. The dough should be slightly sticky but not so sticky that you cannot work with it. The more flour you use the drier the dough will become.

4.) If you have a donut pan add the dough to a greased tray, otherwise use a muffin tray lined with patty pan cases to avoid them sticking.

5.) Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes on 325 F. While baking make the cinnamon sugar by combining sugar and cinnamon. Allow to cool slightly, and then roll in melted butter and cinnamon sugar.

6.) Serve while warm!
