Who doesn’t love basil? This herb is not only delicious but it’s also full of nutrients and therapeutic benefits. Made with walnuts, this pesto is high in essential fatty acids, magnesium and protein. ┬áServed it with steak, on pasta or as a spread in your sandwich. Yum!

Basil has been used medicinally as an anti-inflammatory, a treatment for diabetes, respiratory disorders, allergies, impotence and infertility. This is due to the compound cinnamanic acid which is found in abundance in basil.

This tasty, aromatic herb is also full of antioxidants and can help to boost the immune system.

2 cups of organic basil leaves, packed (2 ounces)
1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
2-3 cloves of garlic

Using a food processor, blend together all the ingredients. For a smoother pesto add more olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.

Will keep in the fridge in a sealed jar for 1-2 weeks.
