Need a quick and hearty meal that everyone will love? You can’t look passed lasagna for family satisfaction, time and effort! Here is a delicious, easy to prepare recipe.

Ingredients for 6 serves

1 packet of oven-ready lasagna sheets

1 carrot, diced
2 stalks of celery, diced
1 onion, diced
800g organic ground beef
2 cloves of garlic
1/3 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup of red wine
500g canned crushed tomatoes
1 tsp sugar
fresh oregano
salt and pepper, to taste

Cheese sauce:
1 tbs butter
1 tbs flour
1-2 cups milk
1 cup of cheese, grated


1.) Place carrot, celery and onion in a large pot with oregano and oil and saute till soft. Add the ground beef and break up gently with the wooden spoon.


2.) Add the tomatoes, wine, sugar, salt and pepper and bring together. Allow to simmer for 1 hour or more.

3.) To make cheese sauce melt butter in pan with flour ( I used wholewheat flour.) Cook for 1 minute.

4.) Gradually add the milk, a little at a time on low heat until combined. Keep stirring as you add the milk on low heat otherwise the sauce will become lumpy.

5.) Take of heat and add cheese.

6.) Layer the lasagna alternating between sauce and pasta. Place the sauce on the bottom of the dish so the pasta doesn’t dry out. Top with the cheese sauce, herbs and more cheese if desired.

7.) Bake in a medium oven for 30 minutes or until cheese is hot and bubbling.



8.) Serve!
